What CSA means for Farmers:
By joining First Light Farm CSA, you establish a long term relationship with a small local farm. This is very differerent from a short term relationship with a giant farm in California or Chile. We care, and frequently consider you.
We know exactly who is eating our vegetables, and therefore, we have personal incentive to do our best for you. It's hard to look someone in the eye knowing we gave them rotten cabbage last week. And how could we except them to tell their friends about us if we've made them ill?
The CSA model puts a face on both the farmer and the consumer. It's a relationship based way of doing business; people matter. This is a local farm's advantage over agribusiness. In general, this is the local economy's competitive advantage over corporate control.
Your involvement allows us to assess the value of our harvest in terms of your individual appreciation. You add meaning to the numbers.

What CSA means for You:
You EAT very fresh produce--Much of it harvested just hours before you pick it up. By nature of CSA's tight producer/consumer relationship, we have the luxury of growing garden variety vegetables that are harvested when ripe, not when they are ready to be packed/shipped/stored.
You KNOW where your food comes from--and how it was grown. We encourage discussion regarding our production methods.
You SUPPORT our local economy--Your investment helps keep money and other resources recirculating among members of our own community. Local self reliance reduces our dependency on external inputs and their inherent waste.
You PARTICIPATE in a movement--One where local people have a say over what would otherwise be left to unconscious market forces. In deciding how our local resources are best allocated for long term community vitality, we embrace E.F. Schumacher's challenge:
