What CSA means to First Light Farm

The crew here at First Light Farm have all grown-up in the North Shore. We feel privileged to grow food in this community and bring it to our family, friends, and neighbors each week. Through our CSA we hope to add to the richness of this area by keeping the farming tradition alive.

Your support allows us to consider the Value of our harvest not in terms of some market price; but simply and appropriately, in terms of Your Appreciation.
 

By Joining a CSA:

You EAT very fresh Produce - much of it harvested just hours before you pick it up.  By nature of CSA's tight producer/consumer relationship, we have the luxury of growing garden varieties that are harvested when "ripe", not when they are "ready to be packed/shipped/stored".  

You KNOW where your Food comes From -and how it was grown.  We encourage discussion regarding our methods and reasoning. 

You SUPPORT the Local Economy -by keeping money and other resources (re)circulating close to home.  Building community self reliance reduces our dependency on outside inputs and their inherent waste.

You PARTICIPATE in a Movement - where local people have a say over what would otherwise be left to unconscious market forces.  In deciding how our local resources are best allocated for long term community vitality, we embrace E.F.Schumacher's challenge to create a local economy where decisions are made as if people who will be here tommorow matter.  Small is Beautiful
