First Light Farm grows biologically sustainable vegetables in Hamilton, Massachusetts. We use cover crops, compost, and conservation tillage practices to protect and improve our soils. Our goal is to provide habitat for the worms and soil microbes which exist naturally in undisturbed soils.
These worms and soil microbes are the most important workers on an organic farm- a healthy living soil is necessary for a healthy plant. In turn, healthy plants create an environment where worms and soil microbes can thrive. A healthy plant can only exist in healthy soil, and vice versa.
By prioritizing soil health, we are able to grow and share nutritious high quality vegetables with our community. We sell most of our produce through our Community Supported Agriculture program (aka "CSA", or "Farm Share". By offering a Spring Share, a Summer Share, and a Fall Share, we give our members the opportunity to eat fresh and local almost year round.
