Eggplant is the new and exciting vegetable for this week. Serving suggestions and other crop info can be found on the Recipes page of our website.
The Tomatoes are getting close. They will be ready by the 2nd week of august. The optional Fruit Share that some of you signed up for will be starting during the first or second week of august. It's up to the trees Some of the crops you receive (especially the Potatoes) may have Minor Bug Damage. Bugs will sometimes chew holes in the leaves, or into the roots. I recommend that you just cut out the bad spots -- the rest of the crop is still very good. When a market demands that the crops be flawless, it forces the farmer to spray chemicals and/or throw out a lot of good food. By choosing to accept slight imperfections in your vegetables, you are essentially casting your vote for a healthy local food system. Please consider the bug damage as proof that we take farming seriously! We do our best to provide you with high quality vegetables, ones that are fresh, healthy and tasty. Vegetables that appear flawless are often not the healthiest ones to eat.
