This week's share: broccoli, arugula, radish, salad turnips, tatsoi, basil, garlic scapes, lettuce and fennel.
The broccoli has a distinctive yellowish tint and is full flavored. Be certain to get it into the refrigerator ASAP.
We have loads of beautiful basil now, but it most likely will become diseased soon. (The "basil downy mildew" pathogen is airborne and moves up from the south every summer.) The date of its arrival for any given season is a function of wind patterns.
It's often feast or famine with these veggies. This week's share has plenty of basil and garlic scapes; so......make pesto now, or you may have to wait until next year.
